Second American Revolution

On April 19, 1775, a shot was fired in Concord, Massachusetts.  In his Concord Hymn, Ralph Waldo Emerson called it “the shot heard round the world”.  Although there had been earlier shots fired, this shot is held to be the start of the American Revolution.

On September 29, 2020, a second shot heard was heard round the world.  It was the start of the Second American Revolution.  America’s loudest voices call it the First Presidential Debate between President Donald J. Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden, moderated by news anchor Chris Wallace.  But, calling it a debate is no different than calling the Battles of Lexington and Concord a debate.

In 1775, Minutemen attacked the British.  In 2020, three minute men attacked We the People.  The Trump-Biden-Wallace troika acknowledged no more humanity or dignity in We the People than Supreme Court Chief Justice Roger B. Taney acknowledged in Dred Scott.

On September 29, 2020, the troika disenfranchised America.  The right to vote has meaning only when voters are informed.  As Election Day 2020 nears, the troika denied We the People any information.  Their performance was less informative than professional wrestling and cage fighting.  In fact, it was no different.

The troika modeled their performance on The Jerry Springer Show.  They acted as representative members of the dysfunctional American family.  Their acting was perfect.  They peaked our emotions and numbed our minds, as was their goal.

When the troika returned home to count their money, experts and pundits told us what we had just witnessed.  Why?  Do they think we can’t understand what we witness?  No.  That’s not it.  They know we know what a swamp looks like.  They told us because they, too, wanted to later go home and count their money.

The second shot has been heard round the world.  This time it’s not a battle between Minutemen and the British, America’s aim being to replace muskets with the right to vote.  This time it’s a battle between minute men and We the People, America’s aim being to restore the right to vote.  The Second American Revolution has begun.
