In Search of America

The world once knew the United States of America.  Now nobody knows America.

People who know everything about everything, people who acquired bully pulpits by accomplishing nothing of value, tell us America never was what it was.

Nobody mentions the American spirit or American exceptionalism.  Nobody thinks of America as a nation of laws, a melting pot, a government of by and for the people, or the land of the free and the home of the brave.  Nobody trusts or respects government or the fourth estate.  Nobody is protected by the Bill of Rights.

The Founding Fathers have been declared racists, and have been removed from our children’s schools.  July 4, 1776 has been replaced with 1619.  The American Flag and National Anthem have been replaced with other flags and other anthems.

“Made in America” is a distant memory.  Going to war for an honorable reason, and winning the war honorably, are long-lost lessons for America’s military leaders.  Journalism is rarer than oxygen in space.

It’s impossible to distinguish between government, the fourth estate, Hollywood, Big Tech, Wall Street, and military weapon manufacturers.

It’s impossible to distinguish between the people who control America, China, the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, and the Group of Eight.

The definition of what it is to be an American has been twisted like a pretzel.  Now an American is person who lives in America and believes America is nothing more than a single component of a World Order, rather than being an individual nation with its own unique history and aspirations and pride.  Now an American is a person who lives in America and hates its history, Founding Fathers, Constitution, laws, and institutions and hates half of its population.

Jeremiah Wright preaching “God Damn America” is preferred to Martin Luther King, Jr. preaching “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by their character.”

Patrick Henry’s cry of “Give Me Liberty, or Give Me Death” has been fallen silent to the demand of “Give me, Give me, Give me”.  President John F. Kennedy’s prayer of “Ask not what your country can do for you — ask what you can do for your country” has fallen silent to the whine of “I deserve, I deserve, I deserve”.

All day every day, America’s loudest voices defame its history, character, institutions, and laws and defame each other.  Half of America hates the other half.  “E pluribus unum” has lost all meaning.  Where has America gone?
